I will say this though, a lot of programs/software I had that would not work with Vista, all of a sudden work again with Windows 7.It doesn’t really matter what version of Windows you have, the best way to get your system working at its full speed and as issue free as possible is with a clean install of the operating system. I run two different registry cleaners at least weekly if not more often also since the SP 1 catostrophic failure of the operating system.

I also try to not update too many updates at once or too large of sizes in the updates even though this Since the rebuild, I have not had any "major" issues with Windows 7, but I do cringe every Tuesday when I am updating Windows 7 via their update process. God I am religious about backing up files and folders so I think I retained about 95% of my files, folders, etc. It literally took over a month to get it back to the same functionality as it was before the Windows 7 SP1 crashed the computer. Then rebuilt all the other functionality, software, customization, etc.

After that was complete I loaded my security software and checkedįor viruses. Then after all updates for Windows 7 was done I loaded Microsoft Office Applications and its numerous updates. I did this also before loading my security software, which by the way justĪbout doubles the speed of downloads and other functionality of the computer. All this was done before loading any other software (except Firefox and Chrome) on my computer. Installing about 100+ updates of Windows that occurred including the Windows 7 SP 1. Then loading the Windows 7 Ultimate software. The final fix for my computer was going back to original factory setting with Windows Vista Home Premium on my computer. However on my main laptop used with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit the Service Pack 1 stops downloading (although it says it still is downloading or appears to be) at 95%.

On one of my laptops with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit operating system the Windows Update downloaded (Wtih 4 other updates) in about an hourĪnd installed successfully during shut down and reboot.
I have been trying to install the Windows Service Pack 1 today on my laptops.
